King’s Cross is now a major new centre in London – and still growing with much development still to come as these development pipeline images show

Human City

Principles for a human city – the first document published by developer Argent, and the result of a two-week ‘symposium’ involving the whole development team

It was important at the start of the masterplanning, design and development process to weld the massive King’s Cross team together and ensure that everyone involved had an understanding of the heritage, technical, transport, planning, community, political, commercial and a host of other challenges that the development would entail.

This initial series of lectures and discussions helped generate for everyone involved a unique, holistic understanding of the scheme rooted in the massive site’s incredible history, and its potential future.

Then we held a day-long workshop to establish from those discussions Principles for a Human City. This became the first document to be published by Argent and guided subsequent development.

Human City

A spread from Principles for a human city, harness the value of heritage – perhaps the most important regeneration principle of all, and one that reflects our changed understanding of place and what creates it
